CYPRESS, CA – Freshman middle blocker Samantha Madrid has earned Charger of the Week (Sep 19-25) after leading the Chargers to a 3-2 win on the road over the defending OEC Champion Irvine Valley College. It was the first time that Cypress defeated Irvine Valley since 2012.
Madrid led the Chargers with 14 kills and finished second on the team with a kill percentage of .478. Over her last two games she has 21 kills and a kill percentage of .636.
The Warren High School alumna is second on the team in kills (107), kills per set (3.15), and blocks (12). The Chargers are currently ranked 8th in the state and 5th in SoCal while sitting atop the Orange Empire Conference with an 11-1 overall record and 4-0 conference record.
