Cypress College volleyball standout Makayla Taylor will be playing at the NCAA Division II level next season as a Cal State LA Golden Eagle. Taylor had a tremendous sophomore season with the Chargers as their starting middle blocker. She averaged 3.33 kills and 4.17 digs per set in conference play, which earned her a spot on the All-Orange Empire Conference First Team. Makayla led the team in digs last season with 341, was second in points scored with 325, and second in kills with 262.
The team finished second in the competitive Orange Empire Conference last season (21-5, 10-4 OEC) and Makayla was a huge part of the team's success. Makayla's former teammates and coaching staff believe that her game will translate nicely into the CCAA, where Cal State LA finished 3rd last season.
