No. 5 Cypress Takes Down No. 6 Orange Coast in Three Sets

Costa Mesa – Cypress, the fifth-ranked team in the state, took down No. 6 Orange Coast on the road Wednesday evening, defeating the Pirates 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 26-24). The Chargers improved to 15-2 overall and 6-2 in OEC matches. OCC fell to 11-3 on the season and 5-3 in conference play.
 
Makayla Taylor led the team with 10 kills, while Lindsey Ray had a team-high 22 digs. Also adding double-digits digs were Ave Mikaele and Kim Calinawan. The Chargers tallied 11 blocks in the match as Taylor led the way with three assists.
 
Cypress returns home on Halloween to host rival Fullerton (12-3, 5-3 OEC), who sits just behind the second-place Chargers in the conference standings and ranks seventh in the state. The game will start at 7:00 pm.
