Women’s Volleyball Caps Off Undefeated Non-Conference With Sweep of Mt. SAC
The Cypress women's volleyball team swept Mt. SAC on Wednesday evening to cap off an undefeated non-conference schedule, which was a first in program history. The Chargers defeated the Mounties 25-20, 25-17 and 25-19 to improve to 9-0, while Mt. SAC fell to 4-3.

Cypress had a huge night on the attack as five players hit for over .400 during the match. Nae Bender was a big offensive threat for the team as she led the way, hitting .625 with six kills and one error. Cierra Boaz could not be stopped on the right side as she had nine kills and just one error (.471). Jasmine Covington added five kills (.444), while Charity Dennis was just behind her at .440 with 13 kills. Rounding out the top hitters was Makayla Taylor, who had a team-high 15 kills on the night (.429).

Mt. SAC had a very scrappy team that played good defense, but the Charger middle blockers were able to limit their big hitters to low kills and dig the ball 89 times, helped by Taylor's team-high 27 digs.

The Chargers had a great night serving as well as Taylor recorded four aces and Paige Buchanan chipped in three. Cypress also saw some great play off the bench from Susan Suski and Kim Calinawan as both were pivotal in the passing game.

Cypress will return home on Friday, Oct. 3 to open up the Orange Empire Conference schedule with a 7:00 pm match against Orange Coast.
