CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress College women's tennis team won their second match of the season on Thursday afternoon. The Chargers hosted the Saddleback Gauchos and defeated them 8-1.
Cypress tennis has worked tirelessly on their fundamentals and preperation under first year head coach Matt Harris. The women have begun to play with confidence and it showed on Thursday. Elizabeth Rodriguez and Jayda Steele won a hard fought battle in the ones matchup, 8-6. Gabrielle Le and Julie Xiong also took down their opponent in their double match. After a back and forth singles match, Hannah Vito, came out victorious to get Cypress their first singles win of the day. Jayda Steele and Kaylene Fabros each won their singles match in dominant fashio, (6-0, 6-3) and (6-0, 6-2).
Coach Harris was encouraged by his teams performance and excited for the ladies to be rewarded for their hardwork. The full results can be found here.
UP NEXT: The Chargers will look to stay in the win column as they host their next match Tuesday, March 10. Orange Coast College will challenge the Chargers beginning at 2PM.
