Women's Tennis Blanks San Diego for 1st Win Since 2013 Season


Cypress - The Cypress women's tennis team (1-2) had a momentous win on Thursday afternoon as the Chargers defeated visiting San Diego City for their first team victory since the 2013 season.

Cypress opened up the match by sweeping all three doubles contests. The No. 2 doubles team of Jasmine Singh and Shamine Singh won first, 8-3, followed by the No. 3 team of Ida Sounalath and Jennifer Ramirez (8-2).  The top doubles team of Jessica Cornea and Devan Johnson wrapped up doubles with an 8-2 win.

In singles action, no player dropped a game during the match.

S. Singh wins 6-0, 6-1
J. Singh wins 6-1, 6-1
Sounalath wins 6-2, 6-1
Ramirez wins 6-2, 6-4

Cypress continues the season next week, traveling to Rio Hondo on Tuesday, Feb. 10 for a 2:00 pm match. The team then hosts Cerritos on Tuesday, Feb. 17 and Riverside on Tuesday, Feb. 24. Both matches start at 2:00 pm.
