Swim and Dive Finishes Regular Season at Pasadena City Invitational

PASADENA, Calif. - The Cypress College men's swim and dive team finished up the Pasadena Invitational with a 9th place finish out of 17 teams. The Chargers were led by Sophomore Mark Wyse who finished with a team high 29 points and two top eight finishes. Wyse finished 4th out of a field of 107 in the 50 yard freestyle (21.64) as he continues to chase the 41 year old school record (21.24) and he finished 5th out of a field of 100 in the 100 yard freestyle (48.12). Freshman Brock Railey turned in a top eight finish in the 100 yard backstroke (56.89) as he finished 8th out of a field of 46 and he is chasing the 2012 school record (56.13). The Chargers also turned in a good performance in the 200 yard freestyle relay (Wyse, Brian Vo, Railey, Nathan Panter: 1:29.58) as they finished 4th.

The women's swim and dive team finished up the Pasadena Invitational with an 11th place finish out of 21 teams. The Chargers were led by Freshman Kayleen Bretz who finished with a team high 37 points and two top eight finishes. Bretz finished 4th out of a field of 52 in the 500 yard freestyle (5:24.27) as she broke the previous school record (5:24.30) that was set back in 1991. She then smashed her own record (18:50.67) that she had set earlier in the season as she finished 2nd out of a field of 27, by just 5 seconds in the 1650 freestyle (18:24.69).

The Chargers swim and dive team is getting ready for the Orange Empire Conference Championship Meet at Golden West College which will be Thursday, April 20-Saturday, April 22. Diving is getting ready for the diving championships at El Camino College on Friday, April 14 and 15.
