Chargers and Hawks Go Scoreless in Season Finale

CYPRESS, CA- Cypress women's soccer (13-2-4, 9-2-3 OEC) tied their matchup with a scoreless draw against the Santiago Canyon Hawks. (17-1-2, 12-0-2 OEC).

In the first half, it was a game of possession. Cypress and Santiago Canyon took turns flipping the field and creating shot opportunities. Cypress led in shots in the first half with 6 shots to Santiago Canyon's 5 shots. The Chargers had an early close chance but missed a one-on-one shot against the goalkeeper high over the net. Santiago Canyon had their own missed opportunity with an outside the box kick. The kick passed the diving goalkeeper but deflected off the goalpost and out of bounds. 

Possession play continued into the second half with most of the game being played at midfield. The exception being with the Hawks leading in shots with 6 to the Chargers 1 shot. The competition got physical near the end with a yellow card being delivered to Santiago Canyon. The shot count ended with 7 Cypress shots to Santiago Canyon 11, with none making it in the net. Goalkeeper Siriana Gudiño, saved 5 shots on goal while Abigail Morales and Jassmin Ortiz each had a shot on goal for the Chargers. 

The first place Hawks did triple the amount of shots on goal against the Chargers, but struggled to create any serious pressure throughout the game. Cypress women's soccer ends their regular season with a draw as they set their sights on playoffs.
