Chargers Defeat Norco College Mustangs, 2-0

CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College women's soccer team (7-4-3, 5-2-2 OEC) took care of business on their home field, knocking off the visiting Norco College Mustangs (1-9-1, 0-9 OEC), 2-0, on Friday afternoon. The victory propelled the Chargers up two spots in the OEC standings, putting them in second place with seven games remaining.

The Chargers dominated possession for much of the first half, but struggled to create many opportunities. The Cypress offense finally found an opening late in the half as freshman Audree Campos headed a ball across the box, finding sophomore Emily Porter for an easy goal in the 40th minute.

Norco came out determined in the second half, playing extremely physical, trying to create an equalizer. However, the Chargers found a way to execute. This time it was Campos, on the receiving end of a pass from sophomore Brianna Camacho, who beat the Mustangs' keeper from outside the box, giving the Chargers a 2-0 lead in the 74th minute.

Women's soccer will return to action on Tuesday, October 16, when they travel to take on Saddleback College at 3:00 pm.
