Lady Chargers Off to 2-0 Start in Conference Play

CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress College women's soccer team (3-3) has bounced back from an 0-3 start to the season with three consecutive victories, including a 2-0 start to Orange Empire Conference play.

The Chargers opened conference with a 1-0 win on the road against Golden West before picking up a dominate 5-1 victory over Norco in their home opener. The two victories have Cypress tied with Santa Ana and Orange Coast for the top spot in the Orange Empire.

Freshman Meagan Smith led the Chargers to a victory over the Golden West Rustlers with the lone goal of the game in the 73rd minute, coming on a Mary Dynda corner kick.

The Chargers finally found a way to get things going on offense when they faced off against the Mustangs on Ray Haas Field. Sophomore Kristin Avila and freshman Mary Dynda each found the back of the net twice, after freshman Margaret Zisk opened the scoring (6:47). The Mustangs took advantage of their lone shot on goal to spoil the Cypress shutout as the Chargers went on to win, 5-1.
