Chargers Tie OCC in Final Regular Season Home Game

Cypress, CA- Cypress College (14-3-2, 10-3-2) struggled to find their offensive rhythm against Orange Coast (10-5-4, 9-3-2) as they drew 0-0 on Tuesday afternoon, marking the first time the Chargers tied at home this season. This match was the Chargers final home game of the regular season as the team hung posters on the fence to thank their sophomores.

Both teams started off sluggish in the first half as both teams combined for a total of six shots. Cypress took 4 of those shots, but none of them seemed to threaten their opponents. The Pirates nearly opened up the scoring on a counter attack in the 34th minute when Rachel Meier went on a run, but sophomore Paulina Serna ran up just in time to prevent Meier from taking the shot.

Despite an uneventful first half, the Chargers nearly took the lead in the 57th minute when Daisy Hellon received a low cross in front of goal. Unfortunately, her shot went high much to the Pirates relief. At the 84th minute, Elizabeth Sanchez almost captured the lead for Cypress, but her shot in the box went straight at the keeper.

The Chargers will play their final regular season game on November 13th on the road against Fullerton at 3:00 PM.
