Women's Soccer Defeats Norco 3-0

Cypress- The Cypress College women's soccer team (8-2, 4-2) earned a 3-0 win over visiting Norco College (2-8, 0-6) on Tuesday afternoon. The Chargers have now climbed up to third place in the OEC standings after back-to-back shutout victories.

Cypress was able to dominate time of possession throughout the game, finishing with 27 shots including 12 shots on goal. Norco was held to 1 shot and 1 shot on goal as they struggled with the Chargers speed on defense. The Chargers jumped out to an early lead when Karla Lopez found the back of the net on an unassisted goal in the 7th minute. Cypress had numerous opportunities to add to their first half lead, but Norco keeper Natalie Ayala did not let Cypress find the net keeping it a one score game. 

The Chargers continued their strong attack in the second half. Gissel Avila was able to extend the Cypress lead with a goal from point blank range in the 61st minute. Cypress put the game away in the 80th minute thanks to a Kelsea Frelling goal assisted by Gissel Avila. 

Women's soccer will look to maintain their undefeated record on the road when they travel to Orange Coast this Friday, October 9th at 3:00 PM.
