Chargers Finish Third in 36th Annual Lady Charger Classic

Cypress, CA- The Cypress College women's basketball program hosted the 36th annual Lady Charger Classic over the weekend. The Chargers finished 2-1 on the weekend, beating El Camino College on Sunday Night to claim third place.

Cypress began the weekend with a 26-point blowout win over Compton on Friday night, 56-30. The Chargers came out strong on the defensive end giving up only 11 points in the first half.

The Lady Chargers faced off against East Los Angeles in the semifinals. Going into the 4th quarter facing an 8-point deficit, the Charger's fought back and were able to tie it up 70-70 on a last second layup by Jessica Barrow. The amazing effort was not enough and Cypress fell in a tightly contested game, 79-76.

The third place game was another dominant performance by Cypress. They knocked off El Camino 77-50 in a comfortable win. Jessica Barrow poured in 23 points to go along with 8 rebounds. Allie Llamas and Pressila Blanco combined for 30 points off the bench.

Up Next: the Chargers will travel to the Grossmont College Tournament from Dec. 17-Dec. 19.
