Christa Evans Commits to Whittier College

CYPRESS, CA – Cypress College women's basketball standout, Christa Evans, committed to Whittier College on Thursday. The Whittier Poets compete as a Division III member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

"The recruiting process was cool because there were a good amount of schools interested in me, but I chose Whittier because I really connected with the coach and the players on my visit," said Evans. "I like the environment they have and I think it's a place I can succeed and reach my full potential."

The Whittier Christian High School alumnus started 41 of her 55 games for the Chargers during her two-year career, helping lead the Chargers to back-to-back CCCAA playoff appearances and a 2018 OEC Title. As a Charger, Evans tallied 435 points, 342 rebounds and 28 steals. She averaged 8.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game her sophomore season.

"Coach Mohr prepared me really well for being held accountable as a student athlete and for high level competition," said Evans. "After playing in open gym I already felt very comfortable and confident."

Evans is set to graduate from Cypress this Spring with an AA in in Social and Behavioral Sciences. She will major in business management at Whittier and plans to start her own business upon receiving her Bachelor's degree.

"I'm looking forward to growing even more at Whittier, but I am going to miss the family environment we have here at Cypress," said Evans.
