No. 19 Chargers Handle Dons at Home, 92-59

CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College women's basketball team (18-7, 10-1 OEC) took care of business at home on Tuesday night against the Santa Ana College Dons (6-18, 2-9 OEC), 92-59. The Chargers had their best shooting performance of the season, shooting 45.7% from the floor and 32% from three-point range.

The Chargers took control early in the game, jumping out to a 10-point lead in the opening quarter. Janei-Ruby Fuamatu scored 11 of the Chargers' first quarter points to help take control. Cypress continued to put on an offensive clinic in the second quarter where they outscored the Dons 23-11, taking a 51-29 lead into halftime.

Cypress cleared their bench in the second half of action, as every available Charger finished their night with a made field goal.

Fuamatu led the way with a game-high 21 points on 8-of-17 shooting, to go along with 4 assists and 4 rebounds. Freshman Sara Weber added 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting off the bench, while Hannah Avila-McArthur chipped in 8 points and grabbed 17 boards.

The Lady Chargers are still in position to earn a fourth consecutive Orange Empire Conference title, holding a one-game lead over Irvine Valley College with three games left to play.

Women's basketball will return to action in Thursday's regular season home finale against district rival Fullerton at 7:00pm. The Hornets handed Cypress their lone loss in OEC play earlier this season at Fullerton College, 67-49.
