Freshman women's basketball standout Hannah Avila-McArthur was awarded her first career Charger of the Week (Jan. 1-7) during Tuesday's practice after an impressive week to open Orange Empire Conference play.

Avila-McArthur helped lead the Lady Chargers to a 2-0 start in the OEC, as back-to-back champion Cypress routed Copper Mountain (W, 92-40) and Orange Coast College (W, 72-51). She finished with 18 points and a season-high 20 rebounds in Wednesday's home victory over Copper Mountain, before adding 14 points and 9 boards in Friday night's road win over Coast.

The La Habra High School alumna is averaging 9 points and a team-high 11.6 rebounds per game this season. She has finished with 10 or more points in five of the last six games, while grabbing 10 or more rebounds in five of the last seven games.
