Culhno Inks with Notre Dame De Namur

By Wes McCurtis

CYPRESS, CA -  Cypress College women's basketball standout Dominique Culhno has accepted a scholarship offer from Notre Dame De Namur, where she will continue her basketball career next season.

NDNU, located in Belmont, CA, competes at the NCAA Division II level as a member of the Pac West Conference. "When I went on my visit it was a good atmosphere and the way they run their program reminded me of how Coach Mohr does it," said Culhno. "I want to be the best point guard in the conference and I want to win."

The two-time All-Orange Empire Conference Second Team selection helped lead the Lady Chargers to back-to-back OEC titles. In 56 career starts, Culhno averaged 10.3 points, 3.2 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game. She used creative ball-handling and passing to create open looks for her teammates, while utilizing her speed in the open court to keep opposing defenses on their heels.

"The program here at Cypress is amazing. There are opportunities everywhere with a great coaching staff and you come here to win. Coach Mohr cares about her players on and off the court so I think it's the place to be to develop as a student and a player," said Culhno.

The St. Joseph High School alumna plans on majoring in either psychology or public health while attending NDNU. She is thinking about pursuing a career in coaching.
