Erika Nilsen Signs With San Francisco State

CYPRESS, CA – Sophomore forward Erika Nilsen has accepted a scholarship offer to play at NCAA Division II San Francisco State next season. Nilsen started 58 games for the Chargers during the last two seasons with career averages of 7.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1 assist per game.

Erika Nilsen was Coach Mohr's lone sophomore on the roster last season, serving as the team captain and mentor to a young but talented team on and off the floor. Nilsen's leadership, consistency, and versatility were key to the Chargers Orange Empire Confernce title run this past season. "My favorite memory was definitely winning conference last season…I also enjoyed making new friends and family as a member of this team," said Nilsen.

The Gators finsihed 10-17 overall with a 7-13 conference record (CCAA) last season. The All-OEC First Team selection will look to make an immediate impact on the court for SFSU this upcoming season. "I think I'll be able to use my size and speed to my advantage at small forward or power forward but I need to work on my ball handling this offseason so I can become even more of a threat," said Nilsen.

She was also an outstanding student while a member of the Chargers, maintaing above a 3.5 GPA during her two years at Cypress. She will major in Kinesiology at SFSU and is interested in pursuing a career in personal training.
