Margaret Mohr Named 2016 OEC Coach of the Year

Cypress College Women's basketball coach Margaret Mohr was named the 2015-2016 Orange Empire Conference Coach of the Year after leading her team to a first-place finish in conference play this season.

The Chargers finished 10-2 in conference with a 23-6 record overall. Their two losses came against Orange Coast on January 6 and Irvine Valley on February 3.

The Chargers had the second highest-scoring offense in conference, averaging 69.3 points per game, and the second best defense, allowing only 57.7 points per game. Through coach Mohr's full-court pressure defense, the Chargers led the league with 12.5 steals per game and forced their opponents to a conference high 25.7 turnovers per game.

This is Margaret Mohr's fourth OEC Coach of the Year award, with her last award coming in 2013 when her team went 11-1 in conference play and 21-9 overall. As of the end of the 2015-2016 regular season, Coach Mohr is 331-231 throughout her tenure at Cypress College.
