Alyssa Movchan is the first women's basketball player to win Charger of the Week this season (Nov. 9 – 15) after a solid showing at the Merced Tournament this past weekend. The freshman point guard led her team to a 2-1 finish and consolation title during the weekend tournament. Movchan was also named to the All-Tournament team.
The Mater Dei alumna scored a total of 36 points, going 7-17 from the three-point line, and put forth a strong effort on the defensive end with 5 total steals. Movchan's strongest game of the tournament came against De Anza (Nov. 13) when she shot 4-7 from the field, including 3-6 from beyond the arc, totaling 13 points to go along with 3 steals.
The freshman guard is currently averaging 12.5 PPG with a 40.9 3PT% and 1.8 SPG this season.
