Women’s Basketball Dominates Orange Coast in Regular Season Finale, 83-44

Cypress – The No. 11 Cypress women's basketball team (22-7, 10-2) took care of business in its regular season finale versus Orange Coast (5-21, 2-10 OEC), defeating the Pirates 83-44 on Friday evening. With the win, the women secure a second-place finish in the Orange Empire Conference and now await post-season pairings.

With tonight's victory, Cypress has also won 22 games this season, which is the most by a Charger team since 2008-09 when the team went 23-10 overall and 10-2 in OEC action.

The Chargers never trailed in the game and had control from the start. At the halftime break, Cypress led 46-20 and then extended its lead to as many as 39 over the final 20 minutes of action. Haley Gorman nearly had a double-double, scoring a team-high 16 points and nine boards. She punctuated her regular season finale with a three-pointer before exiting the game. Tess Sanders had a big game, scoring a season high of 10 points. Cypress utterly dominated the glass, grabbing 62 rebounds compared to OCC's 43.

Cypress will now look to the post-season and should host a playoff game on February 27th or 28th. Check back on www.cypress.prestosports.com for the playoff pairings.
