COSTA MESA, Calif. --- After trailing 22-27 at halftime, the Chargers stepped it up on the defensive end and managed to take home another OEC victory on Wednesday night against Orange Coast.

The Pirates looked to control most of the first half, forcing the Chargers to nine turnovers and a 25% shooting percentage from the field.

The second half belonged to the Lady Chargers.  After shooting poorly in the first half, Cypress went on to shoot 42% in the second half and outscored the Pirates by nine points.

Breanna Patton was able to seal the deal for Cypress when she hit a pair of free throws towards the end of the game, giving Cypress the 49-45 victory.

The victory over Orange Coast puts the Chargers in first place overall in the OEC standings and puts them at 12-8 overall on the season.

Haley Gorman led the Chargers in scoring (16) and in rebounding (8).  Gorman also went 8 for 11 from the field in her 36 minutes played.

Denshay Wallace followed right behind Gorman with 13 points of her own while Katey Kanamoto added nine points to her totals.

Megan Hanson led the Chargers with three assists.

The Lady Chargers look to make it 4-0 in OEC play when they travel to face Riverside on Friday, January 17.  Tip off is set for 7:30 PM.
