IRVINE, Calif. --- The Cypress Women's basketball team was able to win a back and forth game against Irvine Valley on Wednesday night by a score of 64-61.

Down three at the break, the Chargers rallied together in the second half and played a poised game down the stretch.

Lauren Hong led the Chargers with a season high 19 points while Haley Gorman dominated the glass for Cypress.  Gorman grabbed a season high 21 rebounds and also added eight points and four blocks to her stat line.

After being out with an injury the past few games, Denshay Wallace made her presence known once again and was able to score 14 points in the contest.  Wallace hit big free throws down the stretch and went 7 for 8 from the charity strike on the night.

Breanna Patton's two points in the game came at the perfect time when she was able to get an offensive rebound and a put back to give Cypress the one point lead with nearly 45 seconds to go.

Wallace managed to hit two more free throws which put the Chargers up by three, giving them the (64-61) victory.

The Chargers recorded 14 steals and also forced the Lasers to 21 turnovers on the night.

The win gives Cypress the (1-0) start in conference play and snaps their two game losing streak over the holiday.

The Lady Chargers host Fullerton College Friday night at home, starting at 7:30 PM.
