SANTA CLARITA, Calif. --- The Lady Chargers were able to hang on and defeat a tough Canyons College team by a score of (74-73) on Friday night.
The game went down to the wire when Cypress hit two free throws to give them the one point lead with nine seconds left to play. The Chargers played solid defense in the last possession and forced the Cougars to take a bad shot at the end of regulation.
Haley Gorman led the Chargers with 19 points and 14 rebounds while Breanna Patton followed right behind Gorman in scoring with 16 of her own.
Lauren Hong scored 14 points for the Chargers going 5 for 10 from the field.
DeShields Fajardo had a team high six assists and grabbed four rebounds for Cypress.
The Lady Chargers head to Lancaster on December 19 to face LA Pierce in the first game of the Antelope Valley College Women's Basketball Holiday Tournament.
