Cypress Falls Short

CYPRESS, Calif.  --- The Chargers came into tonights season opener looking for a 1-0 start, but Glendale Community College stepped in the way of that vision by defeating Cypress on their home floor by a score of 73-47.

The Chargers faced a Glendale team that ended up shooting a highly impressive 46.9% from the field.  Cypress contested the majority of the shots on the night but couldn't keep the Vaquero's from hitting the bottom of the net.

On top of the great shooting percentage,  Glendale shot 71.4% from the free throw line, which topped the Chargers free throw percentage of 60%.

Despite out-rebounding the Vaquero's by four rebounds, Cypress failed to execute on their second chance opportunities.

Breanna Patton was the leading scorer for Cypress.  Patton recorded 10 points for the Chargers and was 4 for 6 on the night.

DeShields Fajardo led the Lady Lancers in assists with five.

The Chargers face Cerritos College in the Mt. San Jacinto Tournament on Friday, Nov. 15th.
