Cypress Softball Hosts Imperial Valley in Round One of the CCCAA Regional Playoffs

CYPRESS, CA- Cypress Chargers softball (31-11) has earned the #3 seed in the CCCAA state tournament. They will host #14 Imperial Valley (14-8) in a best of three series beginning on Friday, May 6th. The Chargers will host all three games at Cypress College with a double-header being played on Saturday if necessary.

Cypress comes into the playoffs off an OEC Championship loss to the Santa Ana where they watched the Dons claim their conference crown on the Cypress field. The Chargers have been historically dominant versus Imperial Valley as they hold an all-time record of 33-0 with their last matchup being played in 2002. Imperial Valley's not so secret weapon of 2022 is pitcher, Yeraldine Carrion. Carrion has pitched in 18 games this season throwing 110 innings while striking out 233 batters. Carrion boasts a 0.51 ERA with a 12-3 record. The Chargers have faced challenging competition in the Orange Empire Conference all season, but Carrion will be the next test for the Cypress bats.
