CYPRESS, CA - The No. 1-seeded Cypress College softball team (42-0, 21-0 OEC) will host the Southern California Super Regional from Friday, May 12 through Sunday, May 14. Joining the Chargers will be No. 4 Palomar (28-11, 16-0 PCC), No. 5 Santiago Canyon (31-10-1, 17-4 OEC), and No. 9 College of the Canyons (30-11-1, 13-5 WSE).
The Chargers are coming off of a two game sweep of Allan Hancock College (28-15, 19-5 WSN) in their Southern California Regional series. The Chargers won the first game 5-2 and the second game 9-8. Leading the way for the Chargers was sophomore Melanie Okazaki who went 5-for-7 over the 2 game span with 3 RBI, 3 runs, 2 triples, 2 doubles and 2 stolen bases. Destiny Vasquez received the win in game 1 as she pitched all 7 innings while allowing 2 runs, including 1 earned run while striking out 5 batters. She also contributed offensively as she drove in 2 runs in game 1. Jenny Vasquez is another player to watch for as she went 3-for-7 in the series with 3 RBI, 1 run, 1 triple and 2 stolen bases.
Palomar College are the Pacific Coast Conference Champions and they are coming off of a sweep of Pasadena City College.
The Santiago Canyon Hawks are the defending state champions, who finished second in the Orange Empire Conference behind Cypress this season. The Hawks swept Long Beach City College in there Southern California Regional series.
College of the Canyons finished second in the Western State East Division and are coming off a two game sweep of Southwestern College.
The Chargers are 38-8 all-time against the Cougars. Cypress has a 45-5-1 all-time record against Palomar, who they swept earlier this season in a doubleheader by the scores of 6-1 and 9-1. The Chargers are 32-5 all-time against Santiago Canyon who they beat in all three matchups this season by the scores of 8-0, 11-1 and 10-2.
The Chargers will face off against Canyons in the first game on Friday, May 12 at 1:00pm. The second game will see Palomar play Santiago Canyon at 3:00 PM. Saturday's games are scheduled for 11:00am, 1:00pm, and 3:00pm with Sunday's Super Regional Final scheduled for 12:00pm and 2:00pm (if necessary). Winner advances to the State Championship Tournament in Bakersfield, CA (May 18-21).

Tickets to the CCCAA postseason event are $12 for general admission and $8 for faculty, staff, students, seniors, and children. Weekend passes are also available for $30 general admission and $24 for faculty, staff, students, seniors, and children.
