Taylor Pierce Receives Fourth Career Charger of the Week Award

Softball's Taylor Pierce was named Charger of the Week (Feb 29 – Mar 6) after several key performances kept the Chargers' winning streak alive at 12 games. Pierce becomes the first ever Charger to win four career Charger of the Week Award's.

The sophomore pitcher was one of the main difference makers on the team, silencing the opponent's bats from the mound and bringing in runs at the plate.

In Wednesday's victory over Saddleback, Pierce tossed a six-inning shutout with three strikeouts. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs and three RBI, including a base-clearing double in the sixth inning.

Pierce allowed only one run in 5.1 innings on the mound against Fullerton on Friday. She went 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run. The following day, Pierce closed the final three innings against Cerritos and held them hitless for her first save of the season.

Taylor Pierce is currently 6-1 on the mound with a 1.17 ERA, while batting .528 with two home runs, 21 RBI and 10 runs this season. She has surrendered only two runs in four conference games.
