Chargers Softball Produces Five NAIA Signees

The Cypress College softball team has five players moving on to play NAIA softball next year after their run in the State Championship Tournament this past season. Sophomores Khailey Campos, Alejandra Guillen, Kathy Villa, and Victoria Coulter along with freshman Karen Guillen will join the Red Hawks of Benedictine University at Mesa next season.

Khailey Campos was a two-time All-Orange Empire Conference First Team selection and standout SS for the Chargers. Campos led the team in runs scored last season with 53. Alejandra Guillen was selected to the All-Orange Empire Conference First team this season and made the All-State Tournament Team after her performance in Bakersfield. Guillen led the Chargers with a .438 AVG while playing first base and pitcher (7-2) for the Chargers. Kathy Villa (LF) batted .305 and led the Chargers in walks last season. Chargers catcher Victoria Coulter batted .333 with a .400 OBP and freshman Karen Guillen will join her sister (Alejandra) at Benedictine next year after batting .245 with 15 RBI in her first season.

Their former teammates and coaching staff expect their chemistry, on and off the field, to translate into success for the Red Hawks over the next few seasons.
