Chargers Nine Game Home Winning Streak Comes to an End

Cypress Calif.- The Cypress College softball team (20-5, 10-3 OEC) lost 5-1 at home on Thursday when taking on Saddleback College (14-10, 8-5 OEC). This was the first loss at home for the Chargers since falling to Fullerton College on February 11th.

The Saddleback Gauchos held the Chargers scoreless through five innings behind the arm of pitcher Kaylee Cranmer (10-6). Cranmer held Cypress to six hits, collected six strikeouts, and gave up zero earned runs in seven innings. While the Chargers struggled to get on base, the Gauchos scored three runs in the top of the third inning, followed by another run in the fourth, and one more in the fifth inning to take a 5-0 lead. The Chargers scored in the bottom of the sixth inning on an error to make it a 5-1 game but were unable to get on the board in the seventh. Left fielder Jessica Angulo led the Gauchos from the plate with three hits, one RBI, and one run in four at bats. Alejandra Guillen led the Chargers with two hits and one run in three at bats.
