CYPRESS, Calif. --- The #2 seeded Lady Chargers found a way to win in dramatic fashion once again on Saturday afternoon.
Cypress led Saddleback by a score of 5-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Chelsee Herron decided to end the game early.
With the bases loaded, Herron waited for the right pitch and managed to crush a deep home run over the left field wall, driving in Mylee Macahilig, Gabby Juarez and Monique Martinez for the game winning runs.
Herron finished the afternoon vs. Saddleback going 2 for 2 with five RBI while Macahilig also went 2 for 2 in the contest with two RBI of her own.
Desiree Lopez pitched another shutout for Cypress, allowing only two hits in the entire game. The win also gives Lopez her 22nd victory on the mound for Cypress in 2014.
The 9-0 six inning victory sets up a rematch for the Chargers as they face Mt. San Antonio College once again tomorrow at Cypress College with first pitch at 12:00 PM noon.
Saddleback and College of the Desert are now eliminated from the super regionals while Mt. San Antonio College and Cypress College continue to fight for the last spot heading into the final State Championship weekend at Bakersfield College.
