CYPRESS, Calif. --- The Lady Chargers found themselves down by a score of 0-4 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning when Alendrina Pichardo decided to step up to the plate and deliver a double into right field, driving in Makia Hastings and Kathy Villa for the first two Charger runs of the game.

After the three and a half inning struggle to begin the contest, Cypress gained the majority of their momentum in the bottom of the fifth inning.  A Khailey Campos single and a double from Mylee Macahilig were the main highlights in the inning as they helped guide Cypress to four more runs in the inning to take the 7-4 advantage over the Gauchos.

Martinez and Chelsee Herron both scored a run for Cypress in the bottom of the sixth as the Lady Chargers managed to eventually hang on to defeat the vistiting Saddleback Gauchos by a score of 9-6.

Desiree Lopez allowed three hits in her 5.1 innings pitched and also picked up her 21st win of the season for the Cypress Chargers.

Pichardo led the team with three RBI while Campos, Macahilig and Villa each recorded two a piece in the win over Saddleback.

Mt. San Antonio College defeated College of the Desert by a score of 12-3 in the evening contest which sets up a 12:00 PM matchup for tomorrow between the #2 seed Cypress Chargers and the #6 seed Mt. San Antonio College Mounties.

The Chargers look to prove that they have become a better team since their tough 3-4 loss against Mt. San Antonio College earlier in the season back on February 22, 2014 at the Bakersfield tournament.
