Coasting to Victory

CYPRESS, Calif. ---  Kelsey Choate, Christiana Viayra, Chelsee Herron and Alendrina Pichardo all drove in runs in the bottom of the first inning, as Cypress went on to score 11 quick ones on Friday afternoon.

Pichardo showed no mercy in her first up to bat for the Lady Chargers.  Pichardo cracked a deep home run over the left field wall in the bottom of the first, driving in three Chargers for her first grand slam of the season.  Pichardo drove in two more runs for Cypress in the next inning before exiting the game in the third.

Khailey Campos went 3 for 3 on the day scoring three runs with an RBI while Mylee Macahilig and Gabby Juarez both scored two runs a piece for the Chargers.

The 17 runs vs. Orange Coast marks the second highest scoring total in a game for the Chargers this season.  Cypress scored 19 runs in their eight run victory over Bakersfield on February 23, 2014.

The Chargers won't have much time to rest as they bounce back to host Palomar in a double header tomorrow at Cypress College.

Cypress will look to knock off the number one team in the state tomorrow at noon with the second game beginning shortly after at 2:00 PM.
