Four in Ventura

VENTURA, Calif. ---  Desiree Lopez (14-6) and Alejandra Guillen (6-1) each won two games over the weekend for Cypress, holding their four opponents to a combined total of two runs in four games.

The Chargers came in with a lot of confidence against Ventura on Sunday considering they defeated both Long Beach 6-0 and Antelope Valley 8-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsee Herron opened up the scoring vs. Ventura College when she singled in the bottom of the second inning to drive in Monique Martinez and Kathy Villa for the quick 2-0 lead.

Cypress pulled away when Alendrina Pichardo cracked her fifth home run of the season in the bottom of the fourth for the Lady Chargers.

Pichardo singled in the bottom of the fifth as well, bringing in Herron for another Cypress run.

The Chargers ended up defeating the host team in five innings by a score of 11-2.

Cypress continued their impressive play on Sunday afternoon, defeating Allen Hancock by a score of 11-0 to close out the tournament.  Pichardo hit her second home run of the weekend while Herron also hit a home run for the Chargers to help shut the door on the Bulldogs.

Cypress ended up outscoring their opponents 36-2 over the four games played on Saturday and Sunday.  The Chargers will look to carry that momentum into league play when they face off against the visiting Tigers from Riverside College on Wednesday, April 2, at 3:00 PM.

The Lady Chargers are now 22-7 overall on the season after the successful weekend tournament.
