CYPRESS, CA - Maximilien Blancaneaux has earned Charger of the Week (Sept. 26-Oct. 2) after winning the 2016 Fall ITA Region Championship at Cerritos College this past weekend. As the #2 seed Blancaneaux defeated the tournament's #1 seed, Sasha Krasno, from Cerritos College in the final.
Blancaneaux becomes only the 2nd Charger in history to win this prestigious tournament and will be the first ever men's tennis player to actually travel and represent Cypress College in the Small College National Championships Presnted by Oracle in Surprise Arizona on Oct. 12 - Oct 16. "Max has worked tremendously hard leading up to this event and he played very well. I'm incredibly proud of his effort and excited that he will be representing the Chargers at the Small College National Championships next week," said Coach Jeff Benito.
The ITA Regional Championships feature some of the top men's and women's players across the country. Over 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete across 85 ITA Regional Championships around the country.
