No. 5 Men's Tennis Comes Up Big in Season Opener Against El Camino, 9-0

CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College men's tennis team opened the 2018 season at home on Tuesday afternoon with a dominant 9-0 victory over against El Camino College. The Chargers, with a new team led by first year Head Coach Jordan Gobatie, opened the reason ranked No. 5 in Southern California.

In doubles the Chargers swept all matches, taking a 3-0 lead. Cypress' #1 doubles team, Alex Hagon and Johan Wennerholm started things off by defeating Connor Davis and Trey Vasquez, 8-1.

In singles, all six Chargers were victorious in straight sets.

2) Johan Wennerholm (Cyp) def. Trey Vasquez 6-0, 6-3

3) Ingmar Remmerswaal (Cyp) def. Riku Nonaka 6-1, 6-0

4) Jan Simon (Cyp ) def. Kyle Ou 6-1, 6-1

5) Gertjan De Wilder (Cyp) def. Stephen Whitman 6-0, 6-2

6) Giovanni Fragalle (Cyp) def. Ernesto Del Rosario 6-0, 6-0

Men's tennis will return to action on the road this Friday against Ventura College. Match is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
