Cypress, CA  -  The Cypress College Men's Tennis Team (2-2) took on Hope International University in their home opener on Friday. The Chargers made the adjustments from the past weekend and swept the Royals, 9-0. 

In doubles play the Chargers struck first with Freshman duo Ingmar Remmerswaal and Gertjan De Wilder again scoring the first point for Cypress with their quick 8-0 win. They were followed by the sophomore duo of Maximilien Blancaneaux and Vincent Reynaud who dispatched their opponents 8-4. At number three doubles Thomas Kyle and Yubo Chen followed up with the same 8-4 score minutes later to give Cypress a decisive 3-0 lead going into singles play. 

In singles it was all Cypress at the Chargers got quick wins at #2 Vincent Reynaud, #6 Petrus Botha, #4 Thomas Kyle and #5 Gertjan de Wilder. Thomas Kyle clinched the match for the Chargers in his first appearance this spring. Maximilien Blancaneaux played a solid match dispatching his opponent and Yubo Chen shook off a shaky start to complete the sweep for the Chargers. 

"We played well today. We were focused and had the right intensity throughout the entire match. It was great to see and this was a very solid team win for us to help set us up for our next match coming up with Ventura College. I'm proud of our performance today," said Coach Benito.

Cypress hosts No. 4 Ventura College at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14.
