Head Coach Larry Beidler is currently in his 25th year as the full time head coach of both men and women’s swimming and diving. He brings to the Cypress College swimming program nearly 40 years of coaching experience.
Coach Beidler spent 27 years as a professional swim coach through United States Swimming, coaching age group, high school, national, and world class swimmers. He has earned honors in coaching excellence in the United States by the American Swimming Coaches Association, and has also been voted 2012 Orange Empire Conference Men’s and Women’s Swim Coach of the Year.
Beidler received his AA degree at Santa Ana College, his bachelors at California State University, Long Beach; and his Master’s Degree in Education at Azusa Pacific University. Beidler is also a professor of physical education and teaches courses in Psychology of Sport, Health, and Sports in U.S. Society. He has been twice nominated for Orange County Teacher of the Year.
Coach Beidler has been married for 23 years to his wife Marie, and resides in Laguna Niguel and has five kids and six grandchildren.
