CYPRESS, CA- Cypress men's soccer (6-4-3, 3-2 OEC) defeated the Orange Coast Pirates (5-7, 2-2 OEC) at home, 3-1. The Chargers moved up to No. 3 in the Orange Empire Conference rankings.
Cypress took a 1-0 lead into halftime after Rafay Shafique scored a penalty kick in the 23rd minute.
The Chargers had possession throughout most of the second half and outshot the Pirates 10-5.
Raymond Ramirez made it a 2-0 lead for the Chargers with a shot off a deflection from the Pirate's keeper. Orange Coast avoided the shutout with a successful penalty kick at the 71st minute.
Then, Braulio Morales was fouled at the top of the penalty box at the 78th minute and scored the final goal for the Chargers, 3-1.
UP NEXT: The Chargers will return on Tuesday, October 18th to host Santiago Canyon College. Kick-off will be at 3:00PM.
