Chargers Come Up Short Against Vikings in Home Opener, 1-2

CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College men's soccer team (0-1-1) fell to Long Beach City College (2-1-1) at home on Tuesday afternoon, 2-1.

The Vikings Forward, Diego Albanez, gave Long Beach an early lead 1-0 over the Chargers. After a few substitutions, the Chargers found their rotation late in the first half as Jesus Sanchez scored a sensational header directly from the corner kick by Andres Sandoval, 1-1.

Both teams battled at the start of the second half as the referee whistled a foul in the penalty box against the Chargers. The Vikings scored the penalty kick and led the half 2-1. The Chargers outshot the visitors 6-3 in the second half, but could not find the back of the net. The half remained scoreless by the Chargers and resulted with a 2-1 loss. 

UP NEXT: The Chargers welcome Compton College this Thursday, September 8th on Ray Haas Field. Kickoff is at 3:00PM!
