CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College men's soccer team (5-3-2, 2-1 OEC) finished in a 1-1 tie against non-conference opponent San Diego Mesa (4-1-4) at home on Tuesday.
Cypress opened up the scoring early in the first half when Alex Supancic found the back of the net on a rebound (10:03). Both teams remained scoreless for the rest of the half as the Chargers took a 1-0 lead into the break.
Cypress held on to a 1-0 lead as neither team took advantage of their opportunities in the second half. However, a late lapse on defense for the Chargers would spoil their chance of a victory. San Diego Mesa's Rafael Michel gained control and drilled a shot passed the keeper right before the final whistle in extra time to tie the game 1-1.
Men's soccer will return to Orange Empire Conference action on the road this Friday as they take on Irvine Valley College. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
