Men's Soccer Set to Begin Conference Play

CYPRESS, CA - The men's soccer team (3-3) is set to begin Orange Empire Conference play this week.

Cypress had a tough start to the season as they lost their season opener to Chaffey on the road. The Chargers responded to the loss by winning three straight games, including a 2-0 win in their home opener against Moorpark. They then traveled up to Santa Barbara where they took on state ranked Santa Barbara City College. The Chargers fought hard but lost 2-0. They then took on Glendale College at home, but fell 3-1 in a very physical match.

Players to watch this season are Christian Supancic, Brett Hall and Sanson Lopez.

Sophomore forward Christian Supancic has scored four goals in four games and took home the first Charger of the Week Award to start the season. He looks to lead the Charger offense into conference play. Freshman midfielder Brett Hall provides high energy for the Chargers and has one assist so far this season.  Hall was a two-time First Team All-League selection and an Orange County All-Star for Los Alamitos High School. Sophomore forward Sanson Lopez has recorded one goal and one assist so far this season. Last year he was one of the leading scorers for the Chargers as he scored three goals and had two assists.

The Chargers kick off conference play on Friday, September 16 at 3:00 pm against Fullerton College at home.
