CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College men's soccer team (3-3) lost to Glendale College (4-2) 3-1 at home on Tuesday.
Cypress started the game off slowly as there were not many chances early in the game and Glendale came out pressing. The Chargers best chance to open the scoring came in the twelfth minute when Brett Hall fired a shot from inside the box just wide of the right post. Cypress and Glendale continued to create chances back and forth until the Chargers scored. Eduardo Chavez crossed a great ball into Christian Supancic (24:37) who headed the ball into the net for the goal.
Following the goal the game began to get aggressive as both teams picked up a yellow card halfway through the first half. Using the press Glendale was able to create more chances than Cypress and scored a tying goal in the thirty eight minute. Glendale quickly scored a second goal to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
Glendale came out aggressively to start the second half as they committed several fouls. Cypress had several good free kick opportunities which they were not able to take advantage of. Glendale picked up several yellow cards in the second half as Cypress began to create more opportunities. With about ten minutes to go in the game Brett Hall was streaking down the field and appeared to be fouled in the box, but no foul was given. When play resumed Glendale charged down the field and scored a third goal to take a 3-1 lead and win the game.
Men's soccer will return to action on Friday, September 16 at home against Fullerton College to open league play at 3:00 PM.
