SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- The Cypress College Men's Soccer team kicked 2014 off on a good note earlier this afternoon after defeating Cuyamaca College by a score of 2-0.
Sophomore forward Shawn Hansen and Sophomore midfielder Jesus Ibarra both hit the back of the net for the Chargers on Wednesday afternoon, leading Cypress to their first victory of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper Braydon Welch made his presence known in his first start as a Charger, recording seven saves for Cypress in the shutout victory.
Cypress comes back for a day of practice before traveling to Glendale on Friday afternoon in their second contest of the season.
The Chargers look to go 2-0 before their first home game on Tuesday, September 2, vs. Victor Valley College.
