Cypress Golf Dominates, Takes 1st at Los Verdes

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA- The Cypress College men's golf team is one of the hottest golf programs in the state. The Chargers took first place at the El Camino Invitational to notch their fifth first place finish in their last six tournaments.

The Charger's tee'd off at Los Verdes GC Monday afternoon to begin their second OEC match of the season. Cypress was coming off their best team score, 362, last week where they won the Cypress Invitational at Navy GC. Cypress saw Panos Pantazopoulis emerge and win last week's tournamnent. Pantazopoulis brought that momentum this week and shot another great round (71) the second best score of the afternoon for all participants. Harrison Hodgeson of Cypress shot his best round of the season (73) to give Cypress another sub-75 performance. The six Cypress players all had a great showing, finishing with 75 or less strokes. The final two scoring players, Matthew Wotherspoon and Juan Quisobini, both shot a 74. Luke Bartram of Cypress (70) sat atop the tournament once again and left Los Verdes as the 1st place medalist. The Freshman Bartram won his 4th tournamnent of the season and continues to lead the dominant Cypress Golf team. The Chargers as a team matched last weeks score (362), a team best, to knock off second place finisher Orange Coast (369). 

UP NEXT: Cypress will look to keep it rolling next week when take part in the Saddleback Invitational at Arroyo Trabuco. Luke Bartram and the Chargers golf team will tee-off March 16 at 12:00PM.
