Men's Golf Regains Control of OEC with 1st Place Finish at Tustin Ranch

David Marris Shoots 3-Under Par 69 at Tustin Ranch to Lead Chargers

TUSTIN, CA – The Cypress College men's golf team jumped back to the top of the Orange Empire Conference standings following their fourth consecutive first place finish. The Chargers outpaced the field at Tustin Ranch Golf Course by six strokes with a team score of 375 on Monday.

Sophomore David Marris was the lone golfer to finish in the red, shooting a 3-under par 69, to finish as the medalist. "I was able to make a clutch par putt on 17, so I knew I just had to make par on 18 and I'd have a good chance of being medalist," said Marris.

"We just want to keep that team atmosphere, where no single person feels too much pressure," he added. "We trust each other to pick it up if someone isn't having their best day. We just have to keep grinding and have that confidence in each other."

Panagiotis Pantazopoulos (75), Ying-Shih Chang (75), Dalton Davenport (76), Thomas Chung (80), and Matthew Wotherspoon (81) all helped pace the Chargers to yet another OEC victory.

The defending state champion men's golf team will resume conference play on Monday, March 25 at Victoria Golf Course in Riverside, CA.
