Men's Golf Dominates Conference Foes at Candlewood Country Club

David Marris Shoots 3-Under Par 69 at Tustin Ranch to Lead Chargers

WHITTIER, CA - The defending state champion Cypress College men's golf team returned to top form in the Orange Empire Conference's second match of the season, besting the field by 27 strokes this week on the Chargers' home course of Candlewood with a team score of 361.

The Chargers were not so fortunate in the conference-opener at Royal Vista last week, placing fourth with a team score of 384 as Mt. San Antonio won the match on its home course with a team score of 370. Cypress was able to add two new players to the line up for the second match and it paid off as Panos Pantazopolous earned medalist honors with an even-par round of 70 and Matt Wotherspoon added a 73. Freshman Tommy Chung (71) and sophomore Dalton Davenport (72) allowed Cypress to sweep the top four spots on the medalist podium.

Orange Coast placed second with a team score of 388 and Mt. San Antonio finished third with a team score of 391. Cypress currently sits at third place in the OEC standings, just one point behind Mt. SAC and Orange Coast.
