Men's Golf Qualifies for State Championship Round, SoCal Regional Runner-Up

BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Cypress College men's golf team secured a spot in the 2018 CCCAA State Championship round with a second place finish in the Southern California Regional at Bakersfield Country Club on Monday. The State Championship round will be played and Sandpiper Golf Club in Goleta, CA, on May 14. Cypress had success at the Sandpiper Golf Club earlier this season, winning the Sandpiper Invitational.

The Chargers shot 758 as a team in the 36-hole SoCal Regional, three strokes ahead of OEC Champion Orange Coast College, and just 11 strokes back of SoCal Regional Champion College of the Canyons. Matthew Rafter led the way for Cypress, finishing as a medalist with the third best score of the day (145). Dalton Davenport and Ying-Shih Chang helped pace the Chargers, each posting a score of 152 on the day.

Cypress will join College of the Canyons, Orange Coast, and Riverside City as the advancing teams from the south.
