Davenport Paces Chargers to Victory at Tustin Ranch

TUSTIN, CA - The Cypress College men's golf team picked up another win on Monday at the Orange Empire Conference match hosted by Irvine Valley College on the Tustin Ranch golf course, extending its lead in the conference standings over Orange Coast while the rest of the pack fights it out for third place.

The Chargers (18-2 overall) were led this time by freshman Dalton Davenport who carded a 1-under-par 71 and was the only golfer to post a red number on the day. Teammates Matthew Rafter (75), Georgios Bris (76), Ying-Shih Chang (77), and Andrew Thomson (78) fell in line to help Cypress to a 377 team score. Orange Coast finished six strokes back of the Chargers (383) to secure second place and remain two points behind Cypress in the OEC standings.

Head Coach Dana Bedard and his team are focused on keeping their current pace, with five Cypress players currently averaging top-ten scores in OEC play.
