Men's Golf Opens Conference Play With First Place Finish at Los Serranos

YORBA LINDA, CA – The Cypress College men's golf team has now won back-to-back tournaments after an outstanding performance to begin Orange Empire Conference play at Los Serranos Country Club on Wednesday morning.

The Chargers shot 380 as a team to finish two strokes ahead of second place Riverside (382) and four strokes ahead of Orange Coast (384).

Cypress freshman Ying-Shih Chang came in with the best score of the day with a 2-under par 72. Sophomore Andrew Thomson finished with the fifth lowest score after shooting a 1-over par 75 to help lead the Chargers to victory.

The Chargers' men's golf program, who finished second in the Orange Empire Conference last season, is now the frontrunner to win their first conference title since 1976. Head Coach Dana Bedard believes that if his players consistently compete to their full potential that they have a good chance to bring home what has been an elusive OEC Title this year.
